A musical about depression.

Get Out Alive is the most fun you’ll ever have while talking about depression.

Equal parts raucous, tender, intelligent and triumphant, this afrogoth musical breaks new ground as an unexpectedly energetic retelling of a young woman’s experience with abuse, grief, and suicide. After a sold-out run in Steppenwolf Theatre Company's LookOut Series, the pandemic led to GOA being adapted to film in 2021. Twelve film fests and three awards later, we’re ready to hit the road!

Using storytelling, song, dance, visual media and a DJ, Lynette’s offbeat approach to sharing her mental health journey shows that even when life leads us to a bad place, we can always make it out alive. More

The musical about depression took New York by storm!

Get Out Alive was created at AMTP in 2019 and since then has been showcased at Steppenwolf and made into an award-winning independent film. Fresh off a successful year of film festival screenings and a 5-week live performance run at The Den Theatre, Get Out Alive was presented to a Broadway audience as part of NAMT’s 34th Annual Festival of New Musicals. Nikki Lynette’s musical got an overwhelming response, and was the only musical to receive a standing ovation at both presentations.

“When I went into the psyche ward after a suicide attempt, I met all these people with the same issues as me, and they felt alone, too. I told them when I got out, I would use my platform to tell our stories — and I'm keeping my word.”
